Ryan finally convinced me to decorate our spare room for the holidays. I had tried for years to find coastal holiday items to coordinate with my existing decor and had no luck. Pottery Barn released Grinch inspired bedding last year, and I thought it would be a fun theme for a room. I debated whether I should redecorate an entire room the holidays. Ryan was pretty convincing. So I finally committed this year, and the transformation is festive. It all started with the bedding below and my trees.
The spare room is a fun retreat for the holidays. I’ve collected various Grinch inspired fabrics over the years and decided a quilt would be perfect. I am so proud of how the quilt came together. I worked so hard on it, and it’s one my favorite things.
I purchased boxwood wreaths for some of our existing art, added Grinch wall art from Hobby Lobby, and Ryan gave me the stuffed animals on the bed. Build-a-Bear had a Grinch line last year, and they are perfect for this room.
The Grinch themed village is from Department 56. I receive a new piece for my village every year. I love how it looks on the dresser. Tip: You can use Styrofoam to raise your village or create unique scenes. I covered ours in faux snow. Here’s a closer look.
I found an advent calendar on Etsy for the door. Who doesn’t enjoy an advent calendar? I also purchased a Dash & Albert runner for the space. I love rugs!
This is a fun space for all ages and honors a holiday classic from my childhood. I’m not sure where I’ll store all of my new decor, but I’m sure we can make it fit. Do you transform a room in your home for the holidays? I’ve got many more holiday inspired posts for you. Stay tuned!
