Progress Update: More Paint…

Hey there! I didn’t expect to only have one post last week, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. As promised, I’m sharing a couple of project updates. The original project I was hoping to share involved the yard. Well it rained all weekend, and I haven’t received the details from the patio company. Delays happen. Fingers crossed, I’ll have details for you soon!

Since it was raining, I decided to take the plunge on yet another project! I’ve been contemplating adding board and batten to our dining room for quite awhile. The weather was the perfect excuse to start the process. Here’s a look at our dining room before I started.

I woke up Saturday and painted the entire lower section of the wall white. Our walls our smooth, so I’m not going to add any mdf or wood panels. Ryan and I went to our local home improvement store and bought some of the trim. I’ll spend the next week painting all of it. I think it’s easier to paint the trim first and then install. The presence of more white has really lightened the space. I can’t wait to see how it turns out.

While we were at Lowe’s, I had to look at their newly renovated kitchen showroom. I instantly fell in love with one of the kitchens. It included many of the elements I’d like in our kitchen. It was fun to daydream for a few minutes. As much as I’d like to renovate our outdated kitchen, it’s just not in the budget yet. I thought you might enjoy a look though.

With vacation only two months away, I’m trying to finish as many projects as possible. I  woke up Sunday and grabbed another paint brush. Do you remember when I started repainting our front door last year? So…I never finished it. I had some issues with the paint peeling in spots and gave up. It’s probably safe to assume that I didn’t sand enough. I used our power sander to smooth out the areas of concern and repainted. I’ll need to do a second coat after everything dries. I really like the darker look.

That was my weekend in a nutshell. How about you? Are you working on any home projects? Share all the details below.
