Merry Grinchmas Tree

The Grinch won’t be grabbing this tree and stuffing it up the chimney. Just maybe his heart grows three times more at the sight of this festive littleĀ tree.

I love everything about the story of the Grinch and how he comes to love Christmas. It’s a personal favorite during the holiday season. When my Seuss collection grew too large, I decided to split the trees in two. I now have this smaller tree for all things Grinch. From the bright green ornaments to the storybook images, I love every aspect of it. I found the perfect ribbon for this tree at Michaels. The ladder and Grinch combo are Ryan’s favorite. The candy canes were a last minute addition I found at Pottery Barn Kids.

Many of my Grinch ornaments are from Hallmark, Lenox, and Department 56. The red and green glass balls are from Hobby Hobby, along with the picks that adorn the top.

I’ve got a few tips this week for your holiday decorating.

  • For your fuller trees, I recommend using a rotating tree stand. These are really neat and are great for displaying a completely decorated tree. Be sure you have enough space though.
  • Develop a color scheme. I like to choose 2-3 three colors.
  • Get creative with your wrapping. I love to find items that coordinate with the theme of the tree. I’m adding pom poms to some of the presents this year.
  • Roll ribbon upward to create a curl or spiral effect. I recommend using wired ribbon.

I hope you are enjoying our trees so far. I’ve still got several more to show you, including our Hawaii themed tree. Stay tuned!

Grinch Quilt

It’s finally complete! Take a look at the pictures below of my Grinch themed quilt. We decorate each of our bedrooms for the holiday season. This year, our spare room will reflect my love of all things Seuss. The focus of course will be on this beloved Christmas character.

Here’s a look back at the process. I created ten by ten squares and then joined five squares together to create a row. I added a thinner row between each row of squares.

Ready for the final product???

I used leftover fabric and a panel to create the back. What do you think? I’m so excited to add this to the room. It will match perfectly with the bedding I bought & the tree!
