It’s Not So Scary at Disney | Party Review

Ryan and I recently attended our very first Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom. I don’t have too many pictures to share, because I opted not to bring the camera since we flew. This is more about our experience than the pictures anyway. The big question we had going into this specially ticketed event was whether or not it was worth it. It was most certainty worth it; however, we would not go on the same night. (Tickets start at $79 for adults)

We thought going on a Sunday night would reduce the number of families, but we were wrong. Apparently, some Georgia schools were on break. The park was extremely busy…I mean busier than your typical day at Magic Kingdom. Chaos had already ensued by the time we arrived at 4:45 PM.

That being said, we were still able to enjoy the party since we had planned ahead of time. Our priorities for this party included:

  • Riding Deep Space Mountain, Haunted Mansion, & Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Trick or Treating
  • Watching the fireworks & parade

Did we accomplish all of that between 5:30 PM and 12:00 PM? Almost. We hit nearly all of the treat locations. The only ride we didn’t make it onto was Pirates of the Caribbean. Ryan and I also rode Winnie the Pooh and the People Mover. We were able to watch the first parade, the firework show, and the second Hocus Pocus show. I think we ended up leaving around 11:15. We really enjoyed the party and would attend again…maybe earlier in September.

How good of a spot did we get for the shows and parade? Our parade spot was okay, but we literally got off a ride and ran over to Liberty Square right before it started. Our spot for the fireworks was actually pretty good, see the video below. After the fireworks, we moved up for the Hocus Pocus show. I thought that spot was really good.

Wait times varied greatly. At 11:00, the Pirates of the Caribbean ride had a 55 minute wait. Space Mountain fluctuated between 30-45 minutes. I think the shortest wait time for Seven Dwarfs was 45 minutes or so. We recommend getting to the parks at 4:00 to enjoy the rides.

We really enjoyed the party and collected a ton of candy. If you are on the fence, just go and see for yourself. As long as you go with a plan, you’ll have a good time. We’ll be sharing our tips and pet peeves in a future post. Stay tuned.
