Guest Room Update

Although I haven’t completed the guest room makeover, I thought I would share some ‘in progress’ pictures with you all. The room is coming together nicely, and I’m so close to completion. I took these photos with my phone earlier today to share with you all.

I wanted to bring spring indoors, and I think the duvet is perfect. I got a steal on the duvet and lumbar pillow during one of Pottery Barn’s premier days. The rest of it we already owned. You can’t tell from the picture, but the quilted pattern is yellow. We bought this quilt years ago on clearance, and I’ve finally found it a purpose!

I’ve brought in many pieces from other spaces around our home. I like to keep a stash of decor items in our laundry room for makeovers like this. I did purchase a couple of new accessories though. One of my favorites is the Kiwi bird from Crate & Barrel. I just love it!

All of the pops of color on the bookcase really brighten the space. I decided to pull colors from the duvet and mix in some natural wood tones.

The hardest part of this makeover has been selecting art and photographs for the various frames around the room. I’ve only changed a small section of the gallery wall thus far. The frames on the bookcase also need new art. I prefer to take my time to ensure I get the right mix.

What do you think so far? I post more information and pictures once I complete the space. I found some beautiful sconces over the weekend that I’d love to install in this room. I’ve never really loved the lamps. Isn’t the basket darling? I really love this space!

If you want to add some spring touches around your home, I recommend: greenery (real or artificial), a floral pattern (duvet or pillow), bright colors, and white sheets. Don’t be afraid to change things up around your house. It can make a huge difference, and it doesn’t cost anything. Until next time, happy spring!
