Happy Monday! I’m finally feeling well enough to get back to it. I thought I’d tell you about an amazing product that will beautify your drop ceilings. When we started the renovation of our downstairs, I was determined to find a way to upgrade our drop ceilings. I just hate how ugly drop ceilings can be! After searching around on the internet, I came across a photo of StyleStix. Amazing! I decided to give them a try in my craft room last year, and I’m so glad I did.
StyleStix, by Armstrong, are essentially molding covers that snap onto an existing grid. They are easy to install, paintable, and attractive. Who doesn’t love the look of a coffered ceiling? There are three coordinating sizes, all of which can be trimmed to fit your ceiling. The only negative is the cost, and it recently went up. Each box cost anywhere from $60-$90, and you’ll need several boxes depending on the size of your ceiling. Yikes! You can purchase these online or in store at Lowes. They usually take a few weeks to come in. I think they are totally worth the investment. We’ll be installing these in all the rooms downstairs. The second room to receive the ceiling makeover was the cat room. The cat room is a spare room for our cats and all their stuff. Here’s a ‘before’ photo.
Doesn’t it look so much better with the covers?
Here are a couple of closeups of the covers. They make a world of difference.
The cat room is nearing completion…finally! We started this project last March. The new window is almost complete, see below. A couple of coats of white paint will finish it up.
It’s really coming along, and I love the amount of sunlight in this room during the day. Ryan built a table for under the window that I can’t wait to install and share with you. So, what do you think?
[…] The back door needs to be replaced in the spring, and I need to paint the closet doors. The baseboards also need painting, and we need to install StyleStix in this space. If you aren’t familiar with StyleStix, check out my post here. […]
