Seuss Inspired Tree

One of my favorite authors, as a child, was Dr. Seuss. There are pictures of me carrying around my copy of Green Eggs and Ham. I decided a few years ago that I would create a tree around the beloved characters described in his books.

I’ll be honest with you, I wish this tree photographed better. It looks much cuter in person! The polka dot bows go on the tree first. I then add the red and blue balls in addition to any larger ornaments. From there, I add all of my Hallmark and Department 56 ornaments. The Thing 1 and Thing 2 inspired pants go on towards the end along with the garland. The garland, from World Market, was a new addition this year.

Here’s a look at the tree skirt. I actually made this skirt myself. It took me the entire summer a couple of years ago, but it was worth it. I love the character and whimsy it adds.

I’ll try to add a few more photos of the tree when I showcase the entire room. I will share my Grinch inspired tree later this week. I’ve collected so many ornaments that I’ve had to split the tree into two.
