Christmas 2016

Christmas at The Holbertan’s

Every year I have the pleasure of transforming our home for Christmas. To say I love Christmas would be an understatement. I live and breathe Christmas! I have many trees; however, I rotate several of the trees due to space constraints. The 2016 trees include:

All Aboard the Polar Express

It’s a classic story that teaches children the true meaning of Christmas. I put on my Santa hat and started collecting for this beauty a couple of years ago. I finally trimmed the tree for the very first time this year. This tree represents a piece of my childhood, my love for trains, and my father. From the ringing bells to the golden tickets, it is the Polar Express. Well, are you coming?

Hawaiian Christmas Getaway

Christmas is not complete without the sway of palm trees. This one continues to be a favorite of mine. The amount of ornaments for this tree nearly doubles from year to year. I simply can’t resist a new beauty when I walk into a holiday shop by the beach. Hawaiian inspired ornaments complete this tree for a beautiful island holiday. Mele Kalikimaka All!

Good Grief, It’s Christmas Charlie Brown

My husband has always been a fan of the Peanuts Gang, and I knew he had to have his very own tree to display his cherished collection. Charlie Brown & Snoopy adorn this tree with pops of blue, green, and red. The quilted blockhead tree skirt happens to be one of my favorites, since I made it! I love this tree, because it brings so much joy to my husband. Good grief, it continues to grow. I am constantly dreaming of ways to embellish it further. I see twisted kites and Snoopy’s red doghouse in the future…

Nana’s Tree

This tree is making its debut this year, and it couldn’t be more perfect timing. This is my first Christmas without my Papa, and I know he’s enjoying it from Heaven. Many of the ornaments came from my Nana’s tree. I remember growing up and opening presents under her pink and burgundy beauties. When my grandparents downsized, I wanted to carry on the tradition. I recreated her classic by adding elements of ballet. Nothing says Christmas better than a Nutcracker performance. This is for you Nana & Papa!

For the Love of Seussual

My love of Dr. Seuss started with ‘Green Eggs & Ham’ and was fueled by my husband’s love of Universal Studios in Orlando. For those that have not visited the park, they have an entire section dedicated to Dr. Seuss. I’ve included as many characters as possible from the books, and I’ve highlighted the Grinch in particular. Just maybe your heart will grow with joy like mine does every year that I get to enjoy it.
